Panel discussion: Changing the outcomes for Brown and Garner: Using the power of the VOTE, Davis Auditorium, Sturm Hall.

On March 7, 1965, a peaceful multiracial march took place in Selma, Alabama to draw attention to the call for equal voting rights in this country. Met with violence, their efforts helped call national attention to the need for comprehensive voting rights legislation; and the federal Voting Rights Act became law on August 6, 1965. This year's 14th annual Diversity Summit, following the State of Colorado's Martin Luther King, Jr Celebration theme, will focus on actions that made progress possible 50 years ago and what we can do today to continue the struggle for social justice and equality in the United States.
