Join us for this episode of The Assessment Salon Podcast with Dr. Brian Gearity (he/him) where we talk about empathy as the connective tissue that strengthens relationships between classroom assessment and program assessment. In addition to examining how the Master of Arts in Sport Coaching program uses empathy to kindle student engagement, learning, and development, we meander around topics about spreadsheets (yay, curriculum alignment maps) and interactive theater to better understand how to design robust learning experiences for students.   

About the Expert: Dr. Brian Gearity, ATC, CSCS, FNSCA is founding Director and Associate Professor of the Master of Arts in Sport Coaching program, the Graduate Certificate in Strength and Conditioning (S&C) and Fitness Coaching, and specialized graduate certificates in S&C and the Psychology of Coaching at the University of Denver. Dr. Gearity has been a S&C coach for youth, high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, including stops at the University of Tennessee and Cleveland Indians. Dr. Gearity’s research uses sociological and psychological theory to enhance quality coaching.
