The Denver Turnverein was first founded in 1865 and is the oldest organization of its type in Colorado. We are affiliated with the national American Turners organization, started by German immigrants fleeing war-torn Europe in 1848. Turnvereins sprang up around the US to promote social activities, physical fitness and healthy minds. We have been in their current location since 1922 and are celebrating their 100 year anniversary in 2022. The Denver Turnverein has received designation by the City and County of Denver Landmark Preservation Commission, which functions to designate, preserve, enhance, and perpetuate structures or districts that have architectural, historical, geographic or cultural significance within the city of Denver.
