Interview with Howard Sayette conducted by Julia Wilkinson Manley. Howard Sayette grew up in Los Angeles and starts his ballet training there. He danced in Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo from 1956 to 1960 and was a soloist at the Metropolitan Opera Ballet from 1960-1972. Howard became ballet master at Oakland Ballet in 1978 and served in the role for 20 years. There, he dedicated his time to the revival of many Diaghilev-era ballets.
