Mr. Matson was born in 1924 and was a long term railroad man. He was born and raised in the lumber camps of the Saginaw Company. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in and around Williams and Flagstaff Arizona doing various jobs at stations including selling tickets and routing trains to the Grand Canyon. He was working during the high point of the railroad especially to witness the trunk line to the Grand Canyon and its demise.
