Everyone in 2020 is aware that police departments are structured
around systemic racism, resulting in disproportionate police murders of
unarmed BIPOC. But not everyone knows about the historical depth of
policing, the deep roots of systematic racism, or the sheer scope of
policing in different communities. By addressing the history of police
activity and the myriad of forms policing takes in the modern world,
this panel looks to address how this problem developed and what the
problem truly looks, tools that can help inform activism in the present
and future
