The Role of Science in the Criminal Justice System

Professor Danielson's research interests center on forensic science. A major focus of the Danielson laboratory is the analysis of touch-type DNA; the resolution of DNA mixtures and the use of advanced protein technology for the identification of biological fluids. This can help to ensure more accurate analyses of evidence and the unambiguous identification of suspects - especially in challenging sexual assault cases. Additional forensic projects are aimed at aiding criminal and mass disaster investigations by facilitating the identification of charred or severely decomposed human remains.
