Youth Gun Violence

The number of juvenile cases involving firearms in Denver has increased steadily over the last few years, with cases in 2020 reaching a new peak. Communities of color are disproportionately impacted by these crimes, and the criminal justice system is unable to adequately respond to this issue as things currently stand. This panel will include a lecture on the issue, possible sources, demographics most affected, and the proposal of a gun court by the PD and DA’s office, and how that might solve the problem.
